Project: Redesign the mailbag
Problems solved: Weight distribution, handling mail, bag organization and comfort
Time: 4 weeks
Team members: 3
The Joey Bag is a redesigned mail bag featuring a hip belt for weight distribution, an arm shelf for mail, and an accordion bag for comfort.
For this project we needed to redesign a parcel carrier for mailmen. My class worked in teams for this project.

Structural Design: Ensure load distribution and identify stress points using structural engineering principles. Optimize shapes, sizes, and configurations for structural integrity.
Ergonomics: Prioritize comfort and usability.
Reduce physical strain to enhance safety and productivity.

Harness Elements: Shoulder Straps
Padded and adjustable for even weight distribution. May include ergonomic designs.
Waist Belts transfer weight from shoulders to hips. Adjustable for a snug fit.

Interview Insights: even weight distribution, an easy way for mail to be held, and organizers.
Initial Sketches

Each member of the team sketched five concepts before moving to paper prototypes. Highlighted are the features we moved on with

These first paper prototypes are mine. The concept of this idea was to incorporate a hip strap to the regular side bag for even weight distribution.

Here is our more refined paper prototype and our rough fabric prototype.

Meet Joey. An updated side bag made for even weight distribution with an arm shelf to help mailmen on their delivery routes.
